Seminar: Blockchain in Barcelona – Assessment of its potential for transforming the Sharing Economy towards Commons and platform-coop models

BlockchainConnected to the DECODE and Col·lacy research projects, from Dimmons we are organising this short seminar session about Blockchain and its connection to the Barcelona context, as well as the Commons Collaborative Economy. An opportunity to discuss current needs and possible scenarios for this disruptive technology that, among other things, facilitates secure online transactions.

Date: Friday, May 26th from 12h to 15h. (Catering lunch will be available and open-access during the whole meeting).

Venue: UOC 22@ / Rbla. del Poble Nou, 156.

Planned schedule:

  • 12h – 12h30Welcome and introductions
  • 12h30 – 13h30 –  First part: Cases. How can Blockchain be developed here?
    • We have also invited different cases belonging to the Commons Sharing Economy, that are going to share their current activity and challenges. Our aim is matching these realities with current developments that can be developed over Blockchain.
  • 13h30 – 14h45Second part: Blockchain as a source of transformation
    • We are going to take some statements that define the open and platform cooperativism principles, and we are going to approach them from the point of view of Blockchain. We are going to see as some of them are business as usual into the Blockchain’s world, whereas others need some approach. Previous knowledge about Platform and Open Cooperativism is not necessary, but, if you are curious, you can read about them here.
  • 14h45 – 15h – Conclusions
